Watauga River Bridge
Upon reading Haunted Places by Dennis William Hauck and Haints, Witches, and Boogers by Charles Edwin Price I was compelled to visit the Watauga River Bridge in Elizabethton, TN. In the 1930's two lovers were murdered here by an unknown assailant. Since that time there been stories of a dark figure walking on the bridge in what appears to be a monk's robe with a skull for a face. A mysterious presence riding in the back seat of passing vehicles has also been encountered.
Jeff's psychic ability was working well the day we visited the Watauga River Bridge. He pointed out a spot on the edge of the river near the bridge where he felt a presence.
He was apparently correct, my camcorder recorded a moving, full body apparition. Across the river from where we were filming a figure appears to stand up, turn, run, and then disappear. The camcorder was in Negative mode when this was filmed, hoping that this would help us see anything out of the ordinary. Jeff and I did not realize we had caught anything on tape until we later returned to his home and watched the footage. We are 100% positive nobody was on the other side of the river at this time.
I transferred the video footage into an MPEG clip, however, it is near impossible to see anything at such a low resolution. But, when viewing on a television screen with the original tape the figure can clearly be seen.
This photo is a still frame that was taken from the camcorder footage shortly before catching the moving entity. I highlighted the suspect area, then cropped it for a better look. It Certainly looks like a face, possibly a little boy. According to Jeff, a family with a little boy, was involved in a car wreck and killed near the bridge a few years ago.
