Riverview Hotel

Riverview Hotel - 2005

In the quaint little town of St. Mary's, Georgia is the Riverview Hotel.   Room number 8 is said to be  haunted - which is where we stayed - but, I have been unable to find any recently reported encounters.  The last known encounter occurred in the 1950's.  I have recently been told that every room of the hotel is haunted by the spirits of previous guests, past employees, and the Brandon Family, with rooms  2, 8, 12, 18 and 19 harboring the most paranormal activity - especially on holiday weekends.

In my opinion, the chance of meeting a ghost here is slim (at least on the weekends).  If there were any ghosts here, they were probably driven away by the downstairs saloon which is situated directly beneath Room 8.  However, if you do decide to stay here, you will probably not want to stay on a Friday or Saturday night - otherwise you will have to deal with the sound of live music and partying until way after 3 a.m. in the morning.  The floor and the walls do not appear to be very insulated.

On a side note, the upstairs hallway had a very strong mildew smell which was not paranormal related.  This was not among one of my favorite ghostly stops, but don't let that discourage you from visiting.  St. Mary's is a very charming town with a few very good places to eat - especially if you like seafood.
