Castillo de San Marcos
The construction of the Castillo de San Marcos began in 1627 and took 23 years to complete. Many stories are connected to this old castle. I suggest visiting the Castillo if you ever get to St. Augustine. Haunted or not, it is for certain a remarkable piece of history.
Some of the ghostly happenings here include apparitions of soldiers and odd smells from out of nowhere. It was unfortunate that when we went to tour the Castillo it was under some renovations. We were not able to tour the rest of the fort where other ghostly experiences have been reported such as the powder room and the chapel. As well as we like St. Augustine, we will certainly be back and have plenty other chances to visit the Castillo.
